As I mentioned last weekend, the Archdiocese has asked us to count people attending the weekend Masses. It is a way to see what percentage of people are attending Mass. We averaged 1,089 for the past three weekends with the most people attending the 9 a.m. Mass consistently. There are more people this year attending the Saturday evening Mass than the 11 a.m. on Sunday. As you probably know, half as many people are attending the 7 a.m. Mass on Sunday than all the other Masses on the weekend. Like the Archdiocese, we have 30% of our registered Catholics attending Mass regularly.
As we approach November this week, you will notice that we have three Masses on both All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Wednesday, Nov. 1st is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. The school is not in session, but the PSR will be in session so the Mass schedule is 7 a.m., 12 noon and 6:30 p.m. so that the PSR students and families can attend.
Thursday, Nov. 2nd, is All Souls Day. We are having three Masses that day -- 7 a.m., 12 noon, and 7 p.m. -- to better accommodate more families who would like to participate in a Mass for those who lost a loved one this past year. We will have the names of the deceased read at each Mass, and there will be a candle for each deceased member which can be taken home as a remembrance.
I will not be with you this weekend as I am away travelling.
